In 2017, after over ten years of working in hotels, I was presented with the chance to join a window cleaning company, with the intention of eventually becoming the operations manager for a new franchise the following year. I immediately found true joy in the industry and was lucky enough to join the best window cleaning company in North America!
In the last 5 years, I have had the chance to experience almost every aspect of a rapidly growing company. This has included booking appointments in our call center, hiring over 50 staff members in 3 months, operating 150 foot boom lifts, and getting on a chair to do high rise window cleaning. I’ve also gotten the chance to manage a $75,000 project at a major university in our city. In 2022, I was in charge of onboarding, over- seeing, and coaching the six franchise owners in our system.
The most satisfying parts for me are seeing others fall in love with and succeed in window cleaning (and of course, actually clean a window here and there). I’ve gotten to meet some of the kindest and most supportive people and to spend 40+ hours per week with the most fun management team and staff I could ever imagine.
Elite Window Cleaning started in Kingston, Ontario, in 2012 and, including our main location in Kingston, has grown to 7 franchises stretching from Alberta to Nova Scotia. Our success relies on the P.H.D. of window cleaning: Perfect windows, Happy technicians, and Delighted customers. By focusing on hiring awesome people and creating an amazing culture, we have become a company that provides more than just clean windows. This is never more evident than during our annual Superhero Day in July. For six years in a row, our high rise team has suited up and become superheroes for a day to put smiles on the faces of the true superheroes, the children in the pediatric ward at our local hospital, as well as the nurses, doctors, and other front line staff.
To say that I’m excited for what the next few years will bring for myself and Elite is a huge understatement. We look forward to an even bigger and faster expansion, and I’m pumped to be a huge part of it all and enjoy the ride!
