Insurance Policy?

Whether you’re getting started in finding an insurance policy, looking to switch providers, or just want to learn more about insurance, you’ve come to the right place! At Insurance Canopy, we provide cleaning insurance policies made for your business—from janitorial and carpet, to of course, window cleaners!

Why Insurance?

Understanding insurance can sometimes be a pain, but it doesn’t have to be! Insurance protects your company from lawsuits, accidents, and third-party claims. You face risks everyday while you’re on the job and you can be held liable for anything that goes wrong, so having insurance can help you do what you love with peace of mind. Insurance coverage protects you so that you don’t end up paying hefty out-of-pocket expenses.

Common Claims

Maybe you have never faced a claim or are just starting your business, here are some real life examples. One of the most common claims filed from our policyholders is a ladder damaging a client’s property, like breaking a window. If your client trips on your ladder or any other piece of equipment, causing harm to them, they can file a lawsuit against you. If you use a harmful chemical that causes damage or erosion to your customers home or business, they could also file a lawsuit.

If you recommend or sell products to your customers to use for spot cleaning between appointments, there is a risk for product liability insurance claims. You’ll want to be aware of common risks and practice with care so that you can do your best to avoid claims and protect your business.

Policy Coverage

– Aggregates

Insurance Canopy’s window cleaning policies include coverage for $2 million per policy term, with a $1 million limit per occurrence. This means that if a client attempts to sue you, your insurance policy will cover up to $1 million per claim. The aggregate means that Insurance Canopy will cover up to $2 million for however many claims you may have in a 12-month period, for bodily injury and property damage claims that you become legally obligated to pay.

Optional coverage that you can add to your policy is tools and equipment coverage. Adding this to your policy protects your tools of the trade in case anything gets damaged or stolen.

You also have the option to add additional insureds to your coverage for $50. This means that you can add property management or HOA’s to your insurance policy so they can receive protection if they are named in a suit due to a covered business-related loss or claim you have caused.

– Personal and Advertising Injury Coverage

This includes coverage for claims of false arrest, detention or imprisonment, malicious prosecution, oral or written material which damages someone’s reputation, and violations of the right to privacy. It also provides coverage for claims of false advertising or for stealing someone else’s idea, logo, or other intellectual property. The cost for this also depends on the policy selection.

– Damage to Premises Rented

If you rent a storage facility to keep your supplies and equipment, you would have coverage in the event of damage or fire. The best part is that the coverage applies to you regardless of cause, for spaces occupied by you for seven or less days when you are legally liable for the damages. The limit on a window cleaning insurance policy is $100,000.

– Medical Expenses

Having coverage for medical expenses guarantees you don’t pay out of pocket for injuries occurring to a person injured while you are performing your work. This part of your plan would cover up to $5,000, regardless of who is at fault in medical expenses. After an adjuster has a chance to investigate the claim, any additional coverage beyond this would come from the General Liability Limits part of the policy.

– Cyber Liability Coverage

Cyber liability coverage is intended to protect you in the event of cyber crime. If you store any sort of customer information such as addresses, names, or credit card/payment information, you’d want to add this coverage to your base policy. This will give you coverage in case your business accounts are hacked or information is compromised.
