Poor Man Window Cleaning was started by accident in 2001. I was in a hit-and-run motorcycle wreck that left me damaged and without employment. I took the last spare change to my name, went to the dollar store, and bought a bottle of Awesome Window Cleaner and a roll of paper towels. I hit the streets with a limp, telling businesses I was poor and hungry. Three days later, I got my first cleaning, they wanted me back the next month, and that is how I grew. Over the past two decades, I’ve gone from the verge of homeless to a modicum of success. We now have two full-time employees and service about 85% residential and 15% commercial. We market ourselves as a luxury service, with several options of cleaning for SoftWash and Window Cleaning. In the past three years, I have had three shoulder surgeries and two neck surgeries, still managing to grow the business and spend much less time in the seat of the truck. We aspire to grow to between 5-7 employees within the next 36 months.
